When ChatGPT launched in late 2022, it didn’t just mark the arrival of a new tool. It triggered a global shift in how we think about AI and what it can do across every industry. Within 60 days, it had 100 million users. Today, over 400 million people interact with generative AI every month.

At our recent Prophix Live! conference, Prophix’s CTO, Anurag Yagnik, noted that the real story isn’t just about how fast AI is growing, it’s what happens when you stop experimenting and start building products people can trust.

Understanding the AI foundation behind Prophix One Intelligence

He started off his keynote presentation by explaining the foundation of Prophix One Intelligence, the AI engine that powers Prophix One, our financial performance platform.

Prophix One Intelligence is built on a clear, deliberate architecture designed to support the real work of finance. It draws on a multi-layered foundation, each part critical to delivering the speed, scale, and reliability that finance teams need. Here’s a look at the layers of the foundation:

  • Processing power from providers like NVIDIA to enable fast, high-volume calculations.

  • Cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure make those resources accessible and scalable.

  • Large language models (LLMs) from trusted sources like OpenAI and Anthropic provides the underlying intelligence.

  • And at the top, it's all together within Prophix One, the financial performance platform built for finance teams.

While you don’t interact with the underlying layers directly, they shape how Prophix One Intelligence performs, responds, understands, and most importantly – how securely it handles your data.

Prophix One Intelligence isn’t a plugin or a side tool; it’s the underlying AI engine integrated into the platform. Because it’s embedded, not added on, every workflow, insight, and automation are supported by AI that is designed for finance.

Let’s talk about the model

While AI can seem complex, at its core, it’s simply a tool that learns from data to help you make predictions. Think of it like a budgeting model you’ve built in Excel, only more advanced, and capable of analyzing far more data, much faster.

In practice, this means training a model on historical data, whether it’s your financials, plans, or forecasts, so that the model can start to understand patterns and relationships. Once that model is trained, it doesn’t need to fetch your data every time you ask a question. It has built a foundational understanding to be able to answer questions in context. The model is something you can implement across your environment to support your decisions, without exposing sensitive information.

That’s the value for finance: fast, accurate predictions grounded in your business, not general assumptions. And because Prophix One Intelligence is purpose-built for finance teams, you’re not adapting general-purpose AI to fit your work. It’s designed to work the way you do, with context that reflects your structure, systems, and goals.

From general answers to contextual insights

Early generative AI tools were built to answer broad questions using public information. Helpful, but not enough for finance leaders to make complex, business-critical decisions.

That’s where Prophix Copilot comes in. Copilot is designed for finance teams who need precise, data-informed answers to questions like, “What’s our payroll forecast for next quarter?” or “Is now the right time to invest more in R&D?” Copilot doesn’t rely on public data; it draws from your internal financials, plans, and forecasts. That means every answer is grounded in your organization’s reality, not generic benchmarks.

This context-aware experience is powered by Prophix One Intelligence. While Copilot is the assistant you interact with, Prophix One Intelligence is the AI engine working behind the scenes understanding your business, maintaining data integrity, and ensuring security every step of the way.

Prophix One Intelligence was designed for this kind of context. It connects the reasoning of large language models with your actual business data, without ever compromising security.

From there, we can go one step further.

Enter the agentic workflow

Most software follows a script. A step-by-step workflow that only goes as far as the user drives them. But finance leaders don’t always work in a straight line. When priorities shift or new variables come into play, you need tools that adapt without constant instruction.

That’s the promise of agentic AI. Unlike traditional generative AI that waits for prompts, agentic systems understand the broader objective and take initiative. They can pull the right data, run analyses, and even propose the next steps without you having to map it out every time.

For finance teams, that means less manual effort and more strategic output. Instead of toggling between reports or chasing down insights, agentic AI handles the orchestration. It’s a proactive system that understands your business rules, learns your preferences, and acts on your behalf.

As Alok shared in his keynote, today’s Copilot is just the beginning. Autonomous AI will not only help today, but anticipate tomorrow.

Security, accuracy, and privacy, by design

When building Prophix One Intelligence and integrating it end-to-end on the Prophix One platform, we prioritized three things – all with finance teams in mind.

  • Data privacy: Your budgets, payroll, and bonuses never leave your environment. Models run in your private cloud and are never used to train external systems.

  • Security: Prophix Copilot follows your existing permissions. If you can’t access payroll data, neither can it. No extra setup required.

  • Accuracy: Because we use portable models, we can test every update before it's released. Unlike public LLMs, your data isn’t used to train future models. You stay in control, always.

A real world example for CFOs

At Prophix Live!, CTO Anurag Yagnik gave a live demo of how Copilot supports real-time decision-making. Acting as a CFO, he asked a series of questions:

  • “What are the 2025 payroll forecasts?”
Copilot instantly provided a summary across departments.

  • “Show the forecasts by department.”
Copilot broke down the data, revealing that marketing was overallocated, and R&D was under-resourced.

  • “Should we reallocate funds based on industry standards?”
Copilot responded with a complete proposal with recommendations, timelines, and next steps.

  • Each response was rooted in company-specific data, not generic insights proving how Copilot helps finance leaders move from reactive reporting to strategic action.

That’s strategic decision-making at speed, not just another static report.

For finance teams, that means no more chasing spreadsheets or waiting for follow-ups. With the right prompts, they can get clear answers faster and spend more time shaping the business, not searching for numbers.

Just the beginning

This is only a glimpse of what Prophix One Intelligence can do today. We're building AI that works the way finance teams think and keeps getting better with time.
