An Intermediate Accountant is a dynamic individual who has a strong technical background and sound business skills. This opportunity is for a full time, permanent and non-seasonal position. The position will report to the Controller, part of the Finance team, and will work extensively to support accurate reporting and internal cross functional projects.

Key Responsibilities include:

General Accounting
  • Coordinate the collection of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial information and preparation of timely and accurate reporting.
  • Ensure all transactional processing is performed in accordance with established internal controls and accounting standards.
  • Ensure appropriate financial recordkeeping, information system utilization and management reporting.
  • Prepare journal entries & reconcile accounts including prepaids, fixed assets, accruals.
  • Compile monthly cash flow.
  • Assist with various taxes & government administration.
  • Support the marketing department with reporting and analysis.
  • Account for and reconcile intercompany accounts.
Commission & Bonus
  • Work with the sales team & senior management to ensure commissions are calculated accurately on a monthly basis.
  • Drive the calculation of accurate quarterly bonus payments.
  • Setup and maintain customer accounts in ERP.
  • Enter data into ERP & Salesforce to ensure timely and accurate invoicing to customers.
  • Process and invoice all contracted sales.
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal departments on billing issues.
  • Learn company revenue streams and maintain compliance with published price lists.
Special Projects
  • Aptitude to creating new processes and driving efficiencies.
  • Special projects.

What You Will Bring to Prophix

Your Experience:
  • 3+ years of accounting experience (ideally in a small to medium sized software/services environment),
  • Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles,
  • Demonstrated improvements,
  • CPM experience is an asset,
  • Exposure to taxes, intercompany accounting and / or global operations is an asset.
Your Technology Skills:
  • Advance Excel skills,
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite,
  • Strong Technical skills, including ERP’s.
Your Qualities:
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills,
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels of the organization,
  • Detail oriented,
  • Must be able to work additional hours during peak periods to meet deadlines,
  • Strong organizational ability is vital as the candidate will be required to manage multiple projects concurrently
Your Education
  • Current enrolment in a CPA certification program
  • Bachelor’s degree, in a financial (commerce, accounting, economics) discipline
    • At the time of application, must be legally entitled to work in the country where the role is located.
    • Must be able to travel to the United States, within Canada and/or internationally, and have a valid passport.
