Highlights from Microsoft Convergence 2015
As a first time attendee of Microsoft Convergence, I wasn’t completely prepared for the long days, exhausting nights, and sore feet, but the experience was also more valuable and enjoyable than I could have imagined. I could use many words to describe Convergence – motivational, exciting, collaborative, but I’ll focus on three key themes.
Innovation
Microsoft innovates. This theme emerged during the keynote from Satya Nadella, the company’s CEO. Hearing passionate business leaders got the crowd (and me) excited about the future of technology in business. Russell Wilson, quarterback of the Super Bowl-finalist Seattle Seahawks, helped bring a unique perspective to the use of technology during his presentation on OneNote, showcasing how it helps him store notes and remember key plays for his games. Software sometimes makes a difference in surprising ways.
Education
The daily sessions highlighted a wide range of expertise and specialization. Hearing about opportunities for technology to make changes in our lives made this an invaluable learning experience.
Entertainment
You might think that after these long days of sessions, speakers, and networking that attendees would be too tired to party, right? Wrong! The biggest thrill of the show was seeing One Republic perform live 30 rows in front of me. The atmosphere was electric not just from the band (who are amazingly talented), but also from the crowd of global Microsoft partners and customers enjoying another successful Convergence event.
So thank you, Convergence, for helping me grow professionally and personally with a crowd-pleasing closing at One Believe. See you next year in the Big Easy!
